Concrete Services in Forde
Forde was developed in the 2000s and 2010s on the eastern side of Gungahlin, against the Mulligans Flat woodland, and many of its homes are now old enough that owners are moving on from the builder's basics to proper outdoor areas. The calls we get are for alfresco and patio slabs, exposed aggregate driveways replacing plain ones, paths and the concrete edging that goes with a landscaping job. Forde's lots were shaped during estate earthworks, so some sit on cut natural clay and others on engineered fill, and the woodland edge blocks can be sloping. We pour concrete in Forde with a base and joint layout set for the ground on your lot, and we keep to any estate design requirements that still apply to the front of the house. Every quote is fixed and written after a site visit.
- Alfresco & patio slabs — Outdoor entertaining slabs extending the builder's alfresco, set level with the existing floor and jointed where they meet.
- Driveway upgrades — Plain or broom driveways replaced with exposed aggregate or honed finishes, or widened for extra parking.
- Landscape concrete — Paths, mowing strips, garden edging and pads poured as part of a landscaping job, coordinated with your landscaper.

Concrete Finishes in Forde
Polished Concrete
We grind and seal your slab to a shine, trialling the gloss level on a small patch first so you can see it.
Coloured Concrete
Colour mixed right through or stained on top, picked from cured samples you can view in daylight at home.
Honed Concrete
A smooth, low-sheen surface that stays grippy underfoot when it is wet or frosty, ideal around pools and alfrescos.
Exposed Aggregate
Stones revealed at the surface give you traction on a sloping block and hide tyre marks and leaf stains well.
Stencilled Concrete
Brick, tile or paver patterns laid into a new pour, or applied over an existing slab that is still solid.
Stamped Concrete
Stone, slate or timber textures stamped into fresh concrete, with the layout planned so edges finish cleanly.
Concrete Expertise in Forde
Driveways
Built on a base suited to your soil, with control joints placed properly and the verge crossing to TCCS standards.
Patios
We walk the heights and drainage falls with you before pouring, since they are locked in once the concrete sets.
Al Frescos
An alfresco floor has to meet your indoor level exactly, so we sort the heights with your builder before booking.
Pathways
Paths graded so summer storm runoff heads away from your walls, not back against the footings.
Pool Surrounds
We settle grip, how hot it gets under bare feet in summer, and the edge detail at the coping before we start.
Foundations
Footings dug and steel fixed to your engineer and soil report, then inspected by the certifier before any concrete goes in.

Digging and Dirty Works
Awkward little digs where finding buried services and fitting a machine in take the most thought.
Excavation
We check depths, heights and buried pipes on site first, so the dig goes to plan from day one.
Earthworks
Ground cut and filled, then compacted layer by layer, with testing done whenever your certifier asks for it.
Trenching
Trenches dug to the right fall, bedded and packed back in layers so they do not sink after a wet winter.
Digger Hire
An excavator plus an experienced operator, with the right size machine chosen after we look at your access.
Demolition
Asbestos checked and services cut off before we pull anything down, with waste sorted so more gets recycled.
Ground conditions in Forde
Once the concrete is poured, there's no going back to fix what's under it. That's why we look at the ground here before we price a single square metre.
Engineered fill and cut clay
Estate earthworks put some lots on compacted fill and left others on cut clay. The difference affects base preparation, so we check before quoting.
Sloping woodland-edge blocks
Lots toward the nature reserve can fall noticeably, which brings retaining, steps and careful driveway grades into the job.
Reactive clay movement
Like much of Gungahlin, Forde's natural ground is reactive clay, so outdoor slabs are reinforced and jointed to control seasonal movement.
Forde concrete questions
Questions we hear a lot from Forde homeowners before we come out to quote.
Is my Forde block on fill, and does it matter?
It can matter. Estate earthworks in Gungahlin left some lots on engineered fill and others on cut natural clay. Fill that was compacted and certified, often with a level-1 report, is generally good ground, but it behaves differently to natural clay. Your builder's site classification or soil report usually tells us which you have, and we set the base to suit.
Can you extend the alfresco slab my builder poured?
Yes. We pour the extension to the same level as the existing slab, separate the two with a proper joint, and set falls away from the house so water does not run back toward the door. If the alfresco will have a roof, we check where the posts land and thicken the slab or add pads there.
Do I need TCCS approval to change my Forde driveway?
Concrete on your own land usually skips TCCS approval, but changing the verge crossing’s width, location or surface means applying. If we’re only redoing the driveway as far as your boundary, the current crossing can normally stay put. We sort out which applies to you at quote time, so there are no paperwork surprises later.
